House Prices Up 16% in Dundee!
Dundee is the ninth-most expensive place to stay in Scotland, going on price per square metre, new figures show. House prices in the city have risen by more than 16% in five years, according to research by the Bank Of Scotland. The rise is higher than the average in Scotland, where house prices per square metre have risen by 12% since 2012.
The figures relate to the 12 months up to May this year, and are based on price per square metre. The 16% increase in property price in Dundee is the 10th-highest rise of anywhere in Scotland, based on size.
However, the City of Discovery still ranks behind neighbouring city Perth, in terms of price per square metre, with Perth ranked eighth. Perth also saw a 16% increase in property prices since 2012.
The average house price in Dundee is now £155,492. However, Dundee’s average property cost of £1,437 per square metre is still lower than the national average price of £ 1,529. In Perth, the average house costs £190,135, and £1,610 per square metre.
Graham Blair, mortgages director, for Bank of Scotland, said: “House price per square metre can be a useful measure for house price comparison as it helps to adjust for differences in the size and type of properties between locations.”
Edinburgh is Scotland’s most expensive city at £2,492 per square metre, with prices tripling in five years. The capital is the only place in Scotland to have an average house price per square metre higher than the British average of £2,260. Dunfermline has seen the highest price growth on a per-square-metre basis from £1,185 per metre square in 2012 to £1,416 in 2017 — a 20% rise. As such, it is vitally important that you take sufficient measures to keep your investment property safe-for you and your tenants!

RE/MAX Portals are Top across the UK!
At RE/MAX Real Estate Centre we not only have our own website reaching buyers around the world, our own Facebook page to showcase properties on the market with us, a Twitter, YouTube and an Instagram account but we also actively promote the properties we list on S1 Homes, Prime Location, Rightmove and Zoopla (but to name just a few). For any seller – this is probably the best news you could ever wish to hear from your agent… gone are the days that the old fashioned mediums such as printed property guides and local solicitors were the first port of call to look for properties… and here are the days of the internet savvy purchasers that want everything at the click of a button.
The most recent research shows that brand awareness for Zoopla is now at an all-time high and is establishing a growing gap over other search mediums. Research conducted by Harris Interactive questioned over 1,100 adults across the UK during the week commencing September 26th 2016 - it tested them via prompts to recognise certain brands. Having overtaken Rightmove in May this year in a similar piece of research, the latest test puts Zoopla at 90 per cent recognition. Rightmove has 81 per cent, neither figure there to be sniffed at. All in all, the market share (in reach terms) for the RE/MAX suite of internet portals is nearing the 70% mark compared with that of the TSPC which is holding at around 11.8% according to the latest research.
Time and time again we achieve faster property sales and quite often at above asking price. When you look at where we look for buyers then it’s not all that difficult to understand why. Dundee has an ever increasing level of inward investment which means people buying from out-with the usual boundaries…
Getting your property noticed further afield is the only sure fire way to achieving a sale at the right price in the right time.

Last year, our associate Stephen Crofts sponsored the citizenship award for Ballumbie Primary School. The school were so pleased with the success of the award that they are rolling it out for another year and Stephen, who's youngest daughter also attends the school, is delighted once again to sponsor the award by providing the monthly trophy and Waterstones Gift Card for each winner throughout the year.
Both the Headteacher and Stephen agree that engaging children at an early age to become role models for others in their class and in the school is a great idea and will help the children develop personality traits and skills and in areas that are not usually taught in classrooms.
We're looking forward to hearing the great and inspirational stories behind this years nominations.
A big congratulations to our agent Julia Crawford for achieving her 10 Years of Service to RE/MAX! Well done Julia, we look forward to the next 10 years with you.
REMAX Dundee recently participated in the Tay Bridge 50th anniversary celebrations. We took this opportunity to raffle MAX the bear and raise funds for Help for Kids. Thank you to all who participated.
